Even if you didn’t struggle in school, watch this great Ted video – Let’s raise kids to be entrepreneurs- by Cameron Herold. Remember when you were in elementary school and people asked you what you wanted to be when you grow up? What was your answer? I don’t know if I have ever met a kid that proclaimed, “I want to be an entrepreneur!” I wonder why? Besides the fact that they likely can’t say the word, you rarely meet kids who say they want to own their own business. What did you want to be when you were a kid? I remember wanting to be either a fashion designer or teacher. I can tell you Chanel and Valentino had little to worry about. Why don’t we encourage kids to own their own business? What has happened to the spirit of entrepreneurship or is it going to flourish again in the age of the internet.

I really enjoyed this video Ted gave me the encouragement to know regardless of my disability I can be an entrepreneur. I don’t want to work for someone else all of my life. Owning my own business is my goal and I am determined to make it happen.

While watching this, Ted taught me some new ways of teaching my son to be creative. I loved it. My son’s teacher did state that he may have some ADHD and I have been debating with myself these past 3 months of whether I should get some medicine for my son or not. Because after growing up, I also know that I may have a little bit of ADHD from figuring things out quicker then some so I would always end up being bored. My dad was always an entrepreneur and has owned his own business since I was little. My father would also make me sell door to door and do little selling booths with him at events, teaching me to take ownership in my activities. He never gave us an allowance and made us work for money, not regular chores but office or business work with him. I remember when we were young, he gave us the idea to sell our toys and we had set up our van with all our toys all around waiting to sell it. We made 20 dollars which was a big deal back then as a kid. This guy is great! After watching this video, I am not going to have my son be put on medication. I just think I will teach him differently from the norm in order to enhance his strengths. My brother complains about my son’s ADHD but I always tell him, Don’t worry, One day, I am sure this will be his biggest strength.
